2019 New Press Social Justice Awards honoring New York Times columnist CHARLES BLOW and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund president SHERRILYN IFILL. The evening will also feature a special performance by HEIDI SCHRECK, a Tony nominee for "What the Constitution Means to Me." Details on benefits and tax deductibility are below.
In 2010 The New Press presented the first New Press Social Justice Award to author and activist Alice Walker for her remarkable ability to use words to bring about truth and social change. Now an annual tradition, the awards are given out at The New Press's fall cocktail benefit, and to date have recognized the work of thirteen leading social justice activists who hold a belief in the power of books and culture to bring about positive change in the world.
